Farnham Knocked Off Top Spot

Alex Lambe reports on Farnham’s first defeat.

Farnham’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end on Saturday as they narrowly lost 19-17 to 2nd placed Eastleigh, who are now the only unbeaten team in London 3 South West.

Both teams went in to this match with a perfect win rate and knew despite only being a month into the new season that this game could go a long way in deciding who finishes at the top of the table.

The result leaves Farnham two points off top spot, with a home fixture against United Services Portsmouth coming up on Saturday, when they’ll look to get straight back to winning ways.

Farnham won’t be too disheartened by this result, with many observers saying their current squad is possibly the strongest one the club has ever had. They have made an impressive start to the season, which has included a thumping win 74-8 win over Teddington as well as 54-0 and 43-0 wins over Bognor and Trojans respectively.
