Nick Arnold said that playing for England was ‘Everything he dreamed of’ reports Tom Cann.
Aldershot right back Nick Arnold got his first call up to the England C squad on Tuesday night, and played the full 90 minutes against Estonia.
England came away with a 2-1 win against Estonia who fielded nine players that had made full international caps. Arnold said: “we were solid, it felt like we had been playing for a while together. There was a bit of pressure, but we had the ability to hold them off”.
Arnold expressed his delight about being called up for his first match for England, saying “when you walk into the changing room, it feels like it’s real. When you train, it’s good but it’s training, when you put on the kit, it hits you that you’re playing for your country.”
Arnold travelled to Estonia with his Aldershot team mates Cheye Alexander and Jake Gallagher. “Jakey and Cheye really helped me out. Jake is like the management staff there, it’s good to have a friendly face there, when you have time to kill, it’s a positive to have them around.”
Arnold will be hoping to stay fit for the entire season for the Shots, so that he can be in contention to be picked for the final in Slovakia.
