Dan Mountney reports on growing interest in The Shots’ star talent.
Aldershot Town youngster Idris Kanu is on the radar of a host of Premier League clubs, it is understood.
The 17-year-old attacker has impressed for The National League side since joining in October, scoring three goals in 11 appearances so far this season, and he is now drawing admiring glances from some of England’s biggest clubs.
It is believed that reigning Premier League champions Leicester, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Championship side Reading have all watched Kanu in recent months, with Arsenal the latest team to look at former West Ham academy product.
Scouts from the North London giants were in attendance at the EBB stadium for Aldershot’s 2-1 win over Southport in the new year, adding The Gunners to the list of Kanu’s potential suitors.
Despite the interest, Aldershot have received no offers for their young starlet, who only signed a professional contract in December, running until 2019.
Having already had trials with Manchester United, it appears to be only a matter of time before Kanu climbs the English football ladder.
