UCA have had a fantastic season so far, and they hope to finish the season off with wins from their remaining few games, as Tom Lunn reports.
The University of the Creative Arts Men’s football team are preparing for their final few games with fixtures against Buckingham New 5ths and Queen Mary Men’s 5ths in the next week, which will prove crucial in the race for the title.
UCA recorded an impressive win against University of West London 2nd team with a fantastic 5-2 victory away from home on Wednesday.
After the confusion over the cancelled fixtures recently – which left the squad without a game for three months – UCA have been awarded six points, with the league classing two of the games as ‘walkovers’ as the opposition failed to field a team.
With those points, it has boosted UCA’s chances of pushing for a dramatic and sudden league winning position. UCFB (University College of Football Business) 6th team, are currently top of the table leading by three points with an impressive +34 goal difference from just seven games.
Successive wins for UCA will enable them to challenge for the top spot, provided UCFB drop points from their last games, and inspire the UCA team after a long unwanted hiatus.
UCA have lost just one game this season, meaning the pressure will be on them to deliver in their four remaining games. Tantalisingly, the final match on the 22nd March is against UCFB, which could end up being a league decider.
