Farnham produced another convincing display, to sweep aside Hitchin in the semi-final of the RFU Vase, as Alex Lambe reports.
The Surrey based team continued their recent good form to secure an eight try victory, winning 12 – 53, against their hosts.
The Hertfordshire side started the better of the two teams. Hitchin Winger Davis’ 80 metre effort put them 7 – 0 up against a Farnham side who were full of first-team experience.
However, the visitors took a 12 – 27 into half-time thanks to tries from Toby Salmon, Comley (with a double) and Ian Williams. Winger Green responded almost immediately with a try for Hitchin.
In the second half, Farnham stepped it up another gear, as they scored four more tries through Comley (who completed his hat-trick), and Hills (who scored a double) and club captain Dave Hurley.
Salmon was on target with four out of eight conversions as well as slotting a penalty, his namesake and skipper Mike Salmon slotting the fifth conversion for a final score line of Hitchin 12-53 Farnham.
The Surrey side are now awaiting their opponent in the big finale at Twickenham.
