Tayo Oladotun reports as the Terrors close in on the league crown.
Tooting & Mitcham are closing in on the Ryman South League Championship having extended their lead their over title rivals Dorking Wanderers to nine points. After collecting an impressive 95 points in 40 games, it will be a major shock in the Terrors don’t secure the title – and promotion to the Ryman League North.
The Terrors lost star-man and their top scorer with 26 goals Billy Dunn to promotion chasers Greenwich Borough back in December. Dunn scored three times for Borough, but decided the grass isn’t always greener and soon returned straight back into the Terrors set-up – to help them with their history making season.
The Terrors are on an impressive 16-match unbeaten league run that stretches all the way back to December, winning 14 out of a possible 16. The Terrors will be looking to dispose of 15th place Horsham this weekend, having already beaten them earlier this season in the reverse tie 2 – 1 back in September, thanks to a brace from Dunn.
The Terrors go away to second placed Dorking Wanderers on the last day of the season. In what now looking like a two-horse race, Dorking are now 10 points ahead Greenwich. Dorking will be hoping for a slip up from Tooting along the way. With a game in hand on the Terrors, Dorking will be hoping to get within touching distance, so the final game of the season could well set up to be a title decider.
